Begin your Amazon adventure with a flight from Quito Airport to El Coca, arranged upon confirming your trip reservation with Cuenca Best Tours. Our dedicated team from Sacha Lodge will warmly welcome you and assist you every step of the way to the Lodge.

After a brief settling-in period, your experienced guide will accompany you on your first expedition into the lush forest surroundings. Delight in a delicious lunch at Sacha’s private house before setting out on a scenic 2-hour journey down the river to Sacha Lodge. Upon arrival, unwind with a refreshing swim in the renowned lake Pilchicocha, known for its diverse aquatic life.

As the day draws to a close, catch the breathtaking sunset from the lodge’s observation tower before indulging in a delectable dinner, setting the stage for your inaugural nighttime adventure. Choose between a tranquil canoe ride to spot the elusive spectacled black caimans or an immersive rainforest night walk with your naturalist guide, in search of snakes and other nocturnal creatures.

YASUNI NATIONAL PARK AND WILDLIFE SPOTTING FROM OBSERVATION TOWER

At Sacha Lodge, mornings start early to take advantage of the cooler temperatures when the rainforest comes alive with activity. Each group sets their wake-up time, with breakfast following shortly thereafter.

You have various options to kickstart your day, from serene canoe paddling through winding creeks to exhilarating motorized canoe rides along the Napo River. A visit to the Providencia Community in Yasuni National Park offers a fascinating glimpse into their jungle lifestyle, complete with traditional cooking demonstrations and the chance to witness the mesmerizing parrot clay lick phenomenon.

Afternoon activities commence between 3:00 and 4:30 p.m., often extending well into the evening as the jungle comes alive with the sounds of nocturnal creatures. Explore the Terra Firme forest alongside your expert guide, marveling at the towering kapok tree and listening for the calls of elusive wildlife.

DAY

LAGARTOCOCHA TRAIL EXPEDITION, PIRANHA FISHING AND NOCTURNAL WILDLIFE TREKS

After breakfast, embark on a hike along the Lagartococha Trail, where you'll discover the native people's legends and spot wildlife such as anacondas, caimans, and capybaras. Return to the lodge by midday to relax by the lake, swim in the pool, or unwind in your accommodations. Lunch is served at 1 p.m.

Later your native guide will teach you how to fish for the infamous razor-toothed piranha, and you can enjoy a silent canoe ride through the Amazonian forest to spot more amazing wildlife, before arriving at Sacha’s 135-foot wooden tower built around an ancient Kapok tree, the view of Mount Sumaco and a beautiful sunset. Return to the lodge and dinner.

The adventure continues into the night with thrilling activities such as jungle walks and nocturnal canoe trips, illuminated by the soft glow of flashing lights. It's an opportunity to encounter creatures seldom seen during the day, from giant insects to stealthy caimans lurking in the shadows.
